[Orthodontics] How do I treat a front tooth when it is broken?
[2007-09-21 02:51] (1,647)

Depending on seriousness of the breakage, treatment varies. There are three layers in a tooth: enamel, dentin and pulp from the outside. If a tooth is broken up to the enamel layer, additional treatment is not necessary but sometimes the rough side is smoothened or a treatment using Resin can be applied.

If a tooth is broken up to the dentin layer, at that time resin, that has the same color as the teeth or a tube made of ceramics is used to wrap up the broken tooth. However, if pulp is damaged, it can be wrapped with the ceramic tube after treating the nerves/pulps. The degree to which a tooth is damaged decides the need for further treatment. If the root of tooth is broken, the tooth may have to be taken out.
